I am doing Camp NaNoWriMo this July
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month
Normally it is held in November. Camp NaNoWriMo is an extension that is held in July and April. The goal is to write a full 50000 word novel during the month.
I feel that I can to the whole 50K in one month.
Back around March, I did over 30K while I was working on my first book. I know I can do the 50K in one month if I am consistent. I feel I can do at least 2K a day as long as I am consistent.
I have been preparing for Camp NaNoWriMo.
I’ve got the basic outlines for two novels ready. I have started doing more detail on one of them and should finish it this weekend. I am preparing two because for these novels, I am not looking for a particular word count. If I finish one, I’ll start on the second right away.
Or, if I reach 50K early, I’m just going to keep writing till the end of the month (or I burn out). I’m really hoping to have the first draft of the first novel finished and hope to start the second. I am hoping to do very well since I’ll have these books plotted.
What am I writing?
I’m starting a fantasy series. Probably kind of a Young Adult fantasy.
I’m very excited about this series. I’ve been working on the magic system and have come up with something for one of the main characters I think is really going to work well. I also very excited about the characters. I can see some very good potential for stand alone novels in the world with some of the secondary characters.
I am really excited about this series.
Much more than I was with my first novel (which I’ll be re-writing in August – as long as I don’t get totally lost in the new series and can’t stop). I love the characters. I love the world. I love the magic system (what I have so far). This time, I’ve got the plot figured out first.
I’ll be giving periodic posts during July on the progress but nothing long. I’ll be spending the time on the novel or novels themselves.
[…] finished the book I started for Camp NaNoWriMo in July. It’s done. The End. And they lived happily ever after and all that good stuff. Well, maybe […]
